40th Anniversary Campaign
In September 1986, The Oaks School opened with 11 children enrolled in Kindergarten. Nearly four decades later, what started as a single classroom in the back of a Hollywood church has grown to a robust TK through 6th elementary school that has graduated over 500 students. But one thing hasn't changed: our commitment to a progressive, child-centered education. The Oaks School is a place where kids can be kids, where the joy of learning is cultivated, where children learn and practice values that will make them not just good students but good human beings.
In short: The Oaks is a place worth celebrating. To mark 40 years of joyful learning, The Oaks School Board of Trustees is launching a $3 million capital campaign to do just that. To celebrate the school, honor our history and reconnect with all the amazing students that have passed through its doors. The purpose of this capital campaign is to establish a sizable investment fund that, properly managed, will generate more than $200,000 per year, every single year. These self-generating funds can be re-invested in the school, in programming; in teachers; in whatever resources the community, the board, and the head of school decide is important to them. Or, to put it another way, the Annual Fund is how we help pay the bills. The 40th Anniversary Campaign is how we pay for the future of The Oaks; a sustainable, self-generating model that will secure the financial health and success of the school for the next 40 years.
As of September 30, 2025, we have raised almost $1.2 million. Our goal is to hit our midpoint target of $1.5 million by December 2025 and wrap up our fundraising efforts by June 2027.
We know this is an ambitious target, but capital campaigns make a huge difference in the everyday lives of our students. For the 30th anniversary of the school, we raised over $1.3 million to invest in the physical infrastructure of the school, including the beautiful green space that our students run, jump, and play in every day. For the 40th anniversary, we are investing in our financial infrastructure so that The Oaks will continue to deliver the amazing education that 40 years of students have been privileged to receive.
