Academics
Fueled by the belief that the joy of childhood and the joy of learning can go hand in hand, The Oaks balances inquiry, creativity, and wonder in the classroom. The school’s child-centered, constructivist-based approach provides students the time and space to consider subject matter in-depth, explore multiple perspectives, and construct personal meaning.
Learning experiences are designed to be stimulating, thought-provoking, and challenging. Collaborative and team teaching allows us to differentiate lessons and support the unique learning styles of each student. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning process by being deep thinkers, scientific observers, creative writers, collaborative problem solvers, risk-takers, and empathetic friends.
The Oaks is a supportive learning environment that embraces a wide range of students. The focus on project-based learning and educating the whole child allows for a variety of learning styles to be nurtured and strengthened. Though we do not have an individualized curriculum for students with learning disabilities and differences, our faculty differentiates instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of learners. We believe that a variety of learning styles enriches the learning experience for all students.
