Physical Education at The Oaks is a planned, sequential instruction that promotes the habit of lifelong physical activity. It is designed to develop basic movement skills, sports skills and physical fitness, as well as to enhance mental, social, and emotional abilities. Focus is on sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play, respect and spatial awareness.
Students participate in Physical Education daily at The Oaks in a program that includes calisthenics, games and sports. Team sports include soccer, basketball, volleyball, and floor hockey. In the spring, all grades participate in a Circus Arts program designed to develop coordination and balance skills through activities skills ranging from juggling, spinning plates, stilts, unicycle-riding, and the walking globe ball. The 8’x48’ traverse wall promotes strength building, confidence, balance, coordination, teamwork, trust, cooperation and risk-taking, as well as critical thinking, planning and problem-solving.
At The Oaks, students develop a healthy level of physical fitness and establish the foundation for a physically active lifestyle to maintain both physical and emotional well-being.
