Families

The Oaks School’s small, intimate learning community is a defining feature of the school. Families and students actively work to strengthen the community through inclusion and collaboration.

Volunteerism

Families volunteer and participate in school activities to the best of their ability. Active involvement provides a model for service and citizenship for our students and the broader community. All families are members of the Parent Association (PA) and the group actively seeks volunteers for its programs and activities.

Room Ambassadors

Each class has at least two Room Ambassadors for the year. Room Ambassadors train in multicultural awareness and are champions of inclusivity in their class and the larger community. They work together with faculty and administration to address the various unique needs within each class. They also ensure that their fellow classroom families are kept well-informed of school events.

Assemblies & Café Friday

Each grade hosts assemblies throughout the year, sharing what they have learned in class through creative presentations. At the end of each assembly, two 6th graders share the Thought for The Week. After the assembly, students return to class while families are invited to congregate over homemade snacks and coffee in the courtyard at Café Friday. The Hospitality Committee sets up for the Café and provides coffee and tea. Families of the class hosting that week’s assembly provide the food.
