Admissions Checklists

Information gathering and application:

  • Schedule a Wednesday morning tour for late September through January 31st via email: admissions@oaksschool.org or phone: 323.850.3755.  Tours start at 9:15 am on each Wednesday school is in session up to January 31st, and they run approximately 75 – 90 minutes in length.
  • Families interested in applying to The Oaks School are highly encouraged to attend one of two Prospective Parent Orientations (a formal open house held on one evening in November and one afternoon in January).  Please make sure you RSVP for this event via email: admissions@oaksschool.org, or by phone: 323.850.3755.
  • Send completed application with family snapshot and $100 non-refundable application fee by January 31st for March decisions.  Applications received after January 31st are gladly accepted and will be processed for consideration in the order received.
  • Indicate whether or not you will apply for financial aid with a clear “yes” or “no.”  The need for financial aid does not deter admission into the school*.  Admission decisions are “need blind.”
  • If applying for Kindergarten, please have your preschool teacher fill out the Preschool Evaluation Form (double sided white form), and have them mail or fax the completed form to the Director of Admissions by January 31st. If applying for 1st – 6th grades, please include a copy of a recent progress report/report card, along with having your child’s most current teacher fill out the appropriate evaluation form (based on the grade for which the applicant is applying).

*By filling out this portion of our application you allow our Business Office to send you the appropriate materials to expedite the application process (including the financial aspects).

Once applications are received by The Oaks:

  • If you marked “yes” in the field: “Are you interested in applying for financial assistance?” expect to receive further information from the Business Office.  Applying for financial aid is a separate, second step in the application process that involves additional information.
  • Parents/Guardians will be contacted to schedule an interview with a representative from our Admissions Committee.
  • Kindergarten applicants will be invited to visit The Oaks and spend an hour long Play Date with members of the admissions committee.
  • 1st - 6th grade applicants will be invited to spend a half-day at The Oaks with their current peer group.

Once decision letters are received (date determined by a consortium of independent schools):

  • Send The Oaks your RSVP card (enclosed with your decision letter) stating either your desire to enroll, your desire to remain on our active waitlist, or the name of the school where the applicant will enroll.
  • If placed on the active waitlist, please feel free to contact The Oaks after the third week of April via email: admissions@oaksschool.org, or phone call: 323.850.3755, with any questions regarding the status of the waitlist.

Please note: Kindergarten applicants should be 5 years old by October 1st of the year of entry.
1st – 6th grade applications are gladly accepted at anytime and are considered for admission based on space available.
