Welcome from Our Head of School

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about The Oaks.

Our philosophy is based on the belief that the best learning opportunities are created when children are able to share in the responsibility of their education, and when they feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and build skills. Curriculum at The Oaks educates the whole child. Through project-based learning and an anti-bias curriculum, students are encouraged to explore, challenge, and interpret the world around them.

Progressive education at The Oaks School is centered on three important beliefs. First, we believe that children learn best when their ideas are taken seriously and when they are encouraged to be themselves. We also create an environment that provides children with the tools and skills to work for a more just and equitable society. Finally, we believe that the best education is organized around questions and problems that require critical thinking, connection between various subjects, and collaboration.

Our faculty and staff are a diverse group of individuals brought together by a love of learning and a commitment to progressive, anti-bias education and social justice. The result is an exciting educational environment where, surrounded by an inspiring and supportive community, children can lay the foundation to both a successful school journey and a fulfilling life.

I look forward to seeing you on campus where you can experience this wonderful school firsthand.
